Roorkee Cantonment was established in the year 1853 with a total area of 1176 acres. As per the 2011 Census, the total population of the Cantonment is 14356. Roorkee Cantonment is a category II Cantonment, in accordance with Cantt., Act, 2006.

Election : Election for all the seven wards was held on 11-01-2015. In accordance of Cantonment Act, 2006, two wards of Roorkee Cantonment viz III and IV were reserved for women. No ward is reserved for SC/ST.

    Fight Against COVID-19

    Keeping in mind the advisory on use of homemade protective cover for face and mouth, Cantonment Board, Roorkee made more than 200 masks for distribution to general public specially to migrant labourers and fruit sellers. These masks are made by Cantonment School Vocational/ Skill Development Centre trainer Ms. Dolly Pal, She has also been appreciated for spreading awareness amongst public regarding the do`s and don`ts of Corona virus through her paintings. These masks are for such people who are not suffering from medical conditions or having breathing difficulties may use the handmade reusable face cover, particularly when they step out of their house. This will help in protecting the community at large.

    Aarogya Setu is a mobile application developed by the Government of India to connect essential health services with the people of India in our combined fight against COVID-19. The App is aimed at augmenting the initiatives of the Government of India, particularly the Department of Health, in proactively reaching out to and informing the users of the app regarding risks, best practices and relevant advisories pertaining to the containment of COVID-19.
